During Orientation Week the University offers an extensive program of activities for commencing students to introduce you to university life, familiarise you with the QUT environment and help you to get to know some of the staff members and students you will be mixing with throughout your studies. Although most of this program is not compulsory, attendance at as many sessions as possible will help you to get a head-start at the beginning of your academic life.

There are additional orientation sessions for student groups including international students, external and part-time, and Q-Step Program students. Both the general and special sessions are explained on the QUT Orientation site.

You can also check your personal orientation program in QUT Virtual.

In addition, each faculty provides an orientation program for new undergraduate students and some postgraduate students. Details of faculty programs are provided with your offer package.

International students

A special program of activities is offered to meet the particular needs of students who are beginning their studies at QUT. The sessions will help you to complete administrative requirements, meet academic staff and other students, find your way around the University and Brisbane, and develop better study skills. While attendance is optional at most seminars and activities, all international students are required to attend an in-person enrolment session as explained in Orientation Programs.
