QUT collects information about the University's research activities and staff expertise which will help prospective students to identify areas of research strength into which you might fit. Your starting point when applying for a research degree should be the information available in the Research area finder.
Information about research degree programs in QUT faculties is available through Studyfinder, QUT's interactive database for prospective students.
Staff at the Research Students Centre, Office of Research will be happy to provide you with initial advice on your research degree.
Application for entry to a Masters by research and Professional Doctorate (or PhD) is through direct application to the university. Please use the QUT Australian postgraduate research application form (PR form). An application guide can also be downloaded. This form enables you to apply for admission, apply for a scholarship and nominate units for enrolment for your first year of study.
International Students (ie if you are not a citizen of Australia or New Zealand, or have not been granted permanent residency in Australia at the commencement date of your course, or if you hold temporary resident status) must use the FR Form (download PDF), available at the Office of International Students. Please refer to the FR Form Guidelines for assistance in completing the form.
