QUT can make your head spin when you first lay eyes on it. It's big, it's sprawling, it's busy. And there's no-one holding your hand like there was on your first day at school. But give yourself a day or two, and you'll start to feel more comfortable.
Find your way
There are easy to read maps all over campus, and the buildings (even though there are lots of them) are easy to locate because they're all named with a letter of the alphabet. Nothing simpler. And QUT staff are more than happy to help if you're feeling lost. Check out the Admin block or the Student Guild office if you need help. There's even a QUT wireless map, so you can pull out your notebook and get a quick location check whenever you're on campus.
Packed with the good stuff
What else? Well, there are amazing libraries. Very cool computer lounges. Leafy courtyards to chill out in. Pools and gyms. Cafes, bars and heaps of places to eat and hang out, all over campus. Oh, and not forgetting the lecture theatres, tutorial rooms and prac labs.
Location, location
One of the coolest things about QUT is that all the campuses - Gardens Point Brisbane, Kelvin Grove and Caboolture - are right in the middle of the action. The city campus takes up a big bend in the river just a few blocks from the centre of the CBD. And Kelvin Grove is a FREE 6 minute bus ride from the city. So you're really close to shops, pubs, clubs, eating places and transport. You can't say that about many other unis.
Check out a campus for yourself
Want to get out into the real world and have a look around a real QUT campus? Student ambassadors run campus tours all the time, and they can answer any questions you might have. Check out tour details here.
Clubs and sports and other non-study stuff
Whatever your interest, there's bound to be other people at QUT who are into it too. You can join all sorts of clubs, societies and sporting teams. Want a peek at the clubs QUT students are in right now?
Making your way around
QUT is easy to get to from all parts of South-east Queensland, via public transport.
Buses run to and from all three campuses on a regular basis, and there's a FREE bus service running between Gardens Point (City) and Kelvin Grove, departing every 15 minutes. You can also get to Gardens Point by CityCat (ferry), and it's just a 15 minute walk from Roma Street Train Station.
If you're coming from the south side of the river, the Goodwill Bridge, takes cyclists and pedestrians from Southbank right to the heart of the campus. Plus, Brisbane's great network of cycle paths all link up to bring you here. Find out more about your transport options.
Make use of technology
Now this is cool. As a QUT student, you get FREE email and web access - and there are wireless hotspots all over campus. Swotting up on your lecture notes while slurping a decaf frappuccino in the sun… If that's your thing, why not?
You also get access to QUT Virtual, which puts a whole pile of live info about your uni life at your fingertips.
QUT students also make use of Second Life study groups, massive yet comfy 24-hour computer labs, real-time library aid from lab PCs, and laptop parking. A lot of lectures are also available for podcast.
Places to chill
Brisbane is a unique blend of the old and new. At its heart, beautifully restored sandstone buildings provide a delightful backdrop to the city's glass towers. The inner city clusters around the loops of the Brisbane River, connected to leafy, open-skied suburban communities by riverside bikeways.

Workplace learning
At QUT, we think it's vital that our students get to experience what it's like to work in their chosen field, well before they're thrust out into the world!
